A Time for Hope: Adderall and Ritalin Detox and Treatment

A young college student smiles, looking happy to be on campus, with a book bag slung over one shoulder.
We have just one goal: To return your child to his or her old life, healthy, strong and ready to conquer the world—on their own.

Chances are, this wasn’t about getting high or fitting in at a frat house.

More than likely, your college-aged son or daughter had a noble goal—to study harder and do better at school.

But, no matter how it happened, the result is clear: Your adult child is addicted to stimulants. He or she craves them now and has lost control over the use of them. This is no longer about trying to boost performance. Now, the drug is needed just to feel normal.

Unfortunately, we see far too much prescription pill addiction at The Raleigh House. Fortunately, we are able to help young people like this get better all the time—and head back to college determined to do well on their own.

Adderall and Ritalin Treatment at The Raleigh House

Treatment begins by making sure your loved one feels safe and comfortable. The next step is to connect with a master’s level therapist, who will support and guide your child through the recovery journey.

The 90-day treatment program is designed to address every angle of addiction recovery, including the physical, emotional, mental and social challenges introduced or aggravated by the substance use disorder.

One example is that stimulants cause a significant loss of appetite, which can lead to weight loss and stomach pain. We make sure residents eat a recovery diet that helps them regain their strength. Meanwhile, supplements and amino acids fill in the gaps and correct any nutritional deficiencies caused by stimulants.

Stimulant addiction can also lead to high blood pressure, which puts one at risk for a heart attack or stroke. In addition to proper nutrition, we use exercise to get your loved one healthy again and rebuild strength. Yoga, boxing, swimming—or just working out at the gym on a treadmill or with weights.

The bottom line? We can help your son or daughter break free from physical dependency on stimulants. But that’s not our only objective. We want your child to be physically and mentally strong. We want your child to know they already have what they need to tackle the challenges of life—on their own.
