The following story is Kylee’s own testimonial about her life before treatment at The Raleigh House and what her life is like now that she’s completed rehab.
Before Treatment at The Raleigh House
Waking up on my floor, knowing that I had had a seizure, and nobody was home but my baby. Knowing that she could have died and that I could have hurt her somehow, or that I could have died, myself. I pretty much gave up my will to care anymore.
And I mean, I had no money, I had nothing. I was isolating myself completely. I wouldn’t talk to anyone. I had DHS banging on my door and I didn’t care. That didn’t even phase me. It took almost death to get me here.
It’s devastating. Because I’ve always known I’ve had a drinking problem. Like, I partied since I was young. But knowing that I couldn’t control it anymore and just hit rock bottom was pretty sad and it was embarrassing. I was scared to tell my family, my friends, and just not even really admit to myself that I needed some more help than just going to counseling once a week.

What Kylee’s Experience Was Like at The Raleigh House
Before coming to The Raleigh ranch, my life was a complete and total mess. I loved it out here and they pretty much had to kick me out!
I’d say that when being out here at The Ranch, the equine therapy was huge for me. Just having the horses there. They know more about me than probably anyone in this whole facility does.
But, the therapists at The Raleigh House have been amazing, they’re just incredible. They actually do care. And I think having the isolation out here was huge, too. I know some people are a little hesitant about it at first, but once you’re out here, you realize there’s nothing to worry about.
There’s no cars flying by, you don’t have to go anywhere. It gets you into that mindset of letting everything go, seeing where you do need to change and what you do need to focus on.
The staff here, they work really hard. They actually care about their clients, so it was really nice that they came together and made us feel at home. The food, having [chefs] there to help when you don’t feel good, making something different for you. They’re always there to talk to. The therapists, no matter what, will turn their lives around to make sure they’re here to help, too.
Kylee’s Life Beyond Alcohol Addiction
I definitely found a new family. Between the staff and the other clients, they are amazing at making you feel at home. And throughout all our struggles and holidays we had to go through here, they pulled together and showed us that we can still be supportive of each other, and that this place is amazing and that we all do love each other and love ourselves. It really is a home away from home.
Today, I am probably the happiest that I’ve been in years. I’ve got a job that I love, I get to come out here, still, and be a part of these guys’ recovery, which is huge for me. It actually helps me stay sober, as well.
Thanks to The Raleigh House, I was able to get my sobriety and life back.
