You’ve got standards.
You set them when you decided to get sober. You want to be healthy. You want to be a good friend. You want to pursue your goals and work hard. You want to be happy. Most of all, you want to be free.
Isn’t it important that the treatment program you choose also has standards?
The Standards of the Joint Commission (JCAHO)
The challenge is finding out if the rehab you are considering meets the level of quality you desire and deserve. How can you know for sure?
That’s where The Joint Commission (JCAHO) comes in. The non-profit’s stated mission is “to continuously improve health care for the public … by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value.”
If a treatment program has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval, you can trust that it’s been evaluated and found to be a place where you’ll receive the highest quality care available.
Yes, you’ll still want to ask questions to see if the facility is a good fit for you personally, but you needn’t worry about the quality.
JCAHO Commission Standards
The Gold Seal of Approval isn’t something you can get by spending a few minutes online. It also can’t be bought.
Once a facility applies for accreditation (a completely voluntary process), a team of experts visits the facility to conduct a thorough review, in which everything from privacy rights to emergency plans are evaluated. If the commission’s standards aren’t met, accreditation is not given.
Once earned, the Gold Seal of Approval is recognized worldwide as a symbol of quality.
